GPS Firmware Upgrade

Hi, the GUI of an gps-synced unit keeps warning me that i need to update the gps chip firmware.
My current firmware is “AXN_1.51_2801” according to the radio.

I found no reference to such update in cambium’s support page.

Where do i find this upgrade file?

Guilherme,

Please use the “ePMP GPS Synchronized Radio Software” package again for your GPS Firmware upgrade. The GPS software is embedded inside of the software package.

Olá Corey,

Voce quis dizer que o pacote de atualização de software do rádio é o mesmo para a atualização do software de GPS? No aguardo.

William,

Si (Yes!)

Could someone please post the correct GPS firmware version that should appear when one has installed software package 2.0.2?

Daniel

Daniel,
If it shows “AXN_1.51_2801” this is the shipping version of the GPS firmware.

The updated GPS firmware should say “AXN_1.51_2838” If it is indeed showing “AXN_1.51_2801” and the radio is still prompting you to upgrade the GPS firmware, then ignore it.

I have just done a software upgrade to the 2.0.2 package and in the GUI it states:

GPS Firmware Version: AXN_1.51_2801

So it would appear not to have updated. I do have a warning message also. I read this thread to mean that there is no further action other than doing the standard software package update. Is there another action to be done? If so, where is the file?

Daniel

Daniel,
The GPS software is embedded inside of the software package for the ePMP AP. (e.g. in the file you downloaded : ePMP-GPS_Synced-v2.0.2.tar.gz )
We assume you have used the same software package as you did for the ePMP AP, to upgrade the GPS firmware. If you followed the same software upgrade steps for the GPS firmware, and then rebooted, does the GPS Firmware version show under Monitor->GPS page show AXN_1.51_2801 ? If so, then I will have to write that up as a bug to our developers.

What does the warning message say?

I am not clear on your instructions.

I have used the top section of the Tools - Firmware Upgrade section of the GUI and selected the local file and performed the upgrade.

I have NOT used the lower section of the GUI (GPS firmware upgrade) and selected the same file. If this is the correct procedure I would say that it is not clear from the release notes PDF or this forum.

Daniel

Daniel,

The procedure is on page 212 of the ePMP User Guide to upgrade the GPS firmware. I agree that it is not clear and will have to talk to the folks who work on our documentation, but to upgrade the GPS you have to use the lower “GPS Firmware Upgrade” section to upgrade the GPS.
The trick is that you have to use the same file that you used in the “Main Firmware upgrade” section in the “GPS Firmware Upgrade” section.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I confirm that that works.

Estimados, yo tambien tengo problemas con el GPS de un ePMP1000 Sincronizado.
Me tira la leyenda:
"GPS Firmware Upgrade in needed. To perform it, please go to the TOOLS -> Software Upgrade -> GPS Firmware Upgrade subsection"
Probe elejir los archivos con nombre “GPS” que estan dentro del paquete: ePMP-GPS_Synced-v2.1.tar y no me lo acepta.

Desde ya muchas gracias por su tiempo, saludos cordiales!

Emanuel,

A reboot of the ePMP device will force the GPS receiver to re-start if you are trying to upgrade the GPS firmware. Please try to do a power cycle of the AP. (Not just a software reboot of the AP) Then attempt to upgrade the GPS firmware. In software version 2.1 and higher please use the “GPS Firmware” section and Browse to the ePMP-GPS_Synced-v2.1.tar.gz file to upgrade your GPS firmware.

Here is the Google Translation:

Emanuel,

Hi, Can you please try power cycling the radio? Not just reboot from the GUI but removing and reapplying power to the unit.

Thanks,

Sriram

Hello

I am not at the site now. Probably tomorrow I will power cycle the unit.
