GPS Not working/Working on 4600

We’ve got seven 4600’s up now, all running the 5.8.0RC27 firmware.

All appear to be working well, except for one.

We only put one SM on this particular 4600 to begin with. The SM worked fine for a couple of days and it disconnected from the 4600. I found that the GPS was showing as not working in the 4600. It wasn’t receiving any satellites according to Monitor-GPS page.

I tried rebooting the 4600 several times but that never brought it back.

Now, several days later, the GPS is showing that it’s receiving satellites (11) with good signals. And the SM is connected back just fine.

Has anyone else had any problems with the GPS not working properly on the 4600’s?

Of course, this could be a ‘one off’ problem (hopefully) but then I also need to determine if the problem is likely to be in the radio or the GPS ‘puck’.

Any suggestions? Of course, being intermittent makes it a lot harder to troubleshoot.

John

We’ve had this happen a couple of times and it ended up being the puck. Swapping it out for a new one resolved the issues.

Thanks. We’ll try that first. That’s an easy fix (fairly easy… it’s 140 ft up on a water tank  )
