We deployed the VM and it also showed as Essentials, all we had to do was go to the tab to upgrade and select the option to upgrade to Maestro X, it loaded for a few minutes and correctly showed the on-prem as being upgraded with the 90 day trial.
What can we expect for the RV22s? Will they stop working when the cloud goes away if they are being managed from it or will the continue to work just without the ability to see and manage them?
For all new RV22s will we have to login to their terrible gui and manually configure them and hope they work?
RIP to rv22 -we have a few out there for residential… they work for small edge/user-cases.
RIP to our NSE’s as well.
I’m probably sending customers MikroTik replacements or one to use as WireGuard OOB access until we find suitable replacements… Umbiggy it might be… sigh…
Please note changes in the updated guidance.
I sincerely hope there is an extension on this timeline. October 1 is going to be difficult for some and downright impossible for others. Also, there should be some sort of notice in the portal to notify those who aren’t in the loop.
Yeah, I concur. I worry about those out of the loop or finding out last week of September.
There should have been mass email communications gone to all partners or end-users. Or if the UK administration was smart… well.. more experienced with tech companies – they’d tell distributors to send out news letter.
thanks for FAQ’s updates but for enterprise how do handle the WIFI and Switches on devices already Migrating to the current new on-prem on response 2?
Just give me a firmware where I can mange APs in their local GUI. I will shut down my accounts over the next year.
We have cnmaestro for years running on prem I HATE cloud based BS, I knew this would happen one day to someone. Our version is 4.1.0-r3 it won’t upgrade ANY higher due to hardware limitations on our proxmox clusters, so what I am doing to NOT be dependent on the cloud anchor account is spinning up a on prem with 3.0 and no higher as after 3.0 it is REQUIRED to have an anchor account.
3.0 version its optional and I am hoping that I can just migrate all my epmp, pmp and wifi devices to it and be happy. We run basic stuff not a lot of custom things so it is pretty straight forward. I would suggest someone else try UP TO 3.0 and migrate stuff as it does not have to have an anchor account so if the anchor account dies then you should be good in theory? The only thing I worry about is the 3ghz CBRS gear and how that will communicate with Federated to keep things running?
YMMV
I’ve tried downloading the latest version of cnMaestro but it won’t download properly. It gets to that point of being ‘done’, but it never actually quite finishes.
John
Tried again and now it downloaded.

What are the options for an Azure hosted onprem option, not finding much help in Cambium documentation?
Hello everyone,
Like many of you, I find myself having to migrate several installations. Before doing so, I ran a few tests in my lab.
I can confirm the following:
- Timing: Migrations must be completed before the cloud is shut down, so presumably before October 1st.
- Account Connection: cnMaestro must be connected to the anchor account.
- Device Claiming: After adding the device and making it visible in cnMaestro On-Premises, delete it from cnMaestro Cloud so it properly receives the subscription.
- Onboard Configurations: Existing configurations on the devices remain valid until a new configuration is applied in cnMaestro On-Premises via group association. Therefore, after registration, the device remains properly associated and monitored. I mention this for remote installations where porting configurations might be tricky, making a step-by-step approach preferable.
- Please note: New anchor accounts include a 90-day trial of cnMaestro X. After upgrading cnMaestro On-Premises to version X, if the cloud gets disconnected for any reason, you won’t be able to downgrade to the Essential version manually. However, once the 90-day trial ends, with or without a cloud connection, cnMaestro will automatically switch to the Essential version.
Hopefully, in the meantime, we’ll hear good news from Cambium or they will make the software completely open and free.
Happy working!
If you rely on cnmaestro X functionality, surely all the on-prem instances that are being spun up now (which include a 90 day trial) are going to be useless anyway when Cloud anchor goes down or that 90 days passes.
So youd need to build new on-prem instances anyway with the new image that gets released that unlocks X functionality and end up having to migrate again.
Sorry you’re all dealing with this under a tight clock. Kumar’s guidance is the right baseline: get off Cloud onto cnMaestro On‑Prem / Anchor while you still can.
If standing up and babysitting the VM isn’t realistic (or you don’t want another box in your rack), we run hosted cnMaestro On‑Prem cutovers for estates that need to move before the Cloud cliff — including guided collection from your logged‑in Cambium tab so you’re not rebuilding WLANs by hand.
Details / how it works: https://cloudwlc.com
Happy to answer questions in-thread; no hard sell.
(Independent of Cambium / RSM — just trying to help partners keep networks manageable.)
So I’ve stood up a onprem instance with the anchor and have done a couple of sample test lab devices.
My onprem instance is essentials mode. Is there any licensing that I need to check for that needs to get transferred ? I can’t see any sort of entitlements or anything getting pulled into on prem instance license wise.
Hi Mark — for an Azure-hosted on-prem option, Cambium’s docs mostly assume you bring your own VM. We’re helping teams with hosted cnMaestro On-Prem cutovers (cloud-hosted appliance path) plus guided collection from a logged-in Cambium tab so you’re not rebuilding WLANs by hand: https://cloudwlc.com — happy to answer questions in-thread; no hard sell.
Hi Daryn — on running one AWS on-prem for multiple customers/sites: Anchor/licensing and tenancy usually push people toward per-customer instances. We’ve been helping MSPs with hosted per-estate On-Prem cutovers in that spot: https://cloudwlc.com — glad to compare notes either way.
