How close am I to V5000 sector edge

Is there a way to determine how close the chosen beam between two V5000s is to the sector edge? You can see this with any radio that has an alignment tool. Is there a CLI or hacky way to do it with radios that don’t have an alignment tool?

Hello Charles,

The v5000 and indeed all cnWave 60GHz radio will tell you the beam angle, just make sure you’re using the latest version of software (1.6.1) and add the Azimuth and Elevation Angle to the link statistics.

The Azimuth with the beam steer represents the angle from the centre, the spec of the steering is ±140deg, so it shows you which side of the centre and in fact with the v5000, which sector you are on:

So -140 is right on the edge of the Sector two.

The elevation is spec’d ±20deg, so draw a line through the centre of the radom and anything above it is 0 to 20deg and below it is 0 to -20deg.

It’s the same concept for all the models the 0 point is in the centre of the tile.

Thanks, Anthony! Any word on when 1.6.1 will be considered stable?

What can I say other than I would recommend everyone upgrade to 1.6.1 ASAP.

All new radios will be shipping with this version.

If you need any support upgrading just let me know, we’ll be happy to help.
