I’m posting this here because the “Report a bug” feature isn’t work on my android or my iOS phones.
why doesn’t the firmware manifest stay updated with the options in cnMaestro? for example, I’m running 4.8.1 on a good number of my 3k units. 4.8 is the latest 4.x available in the app. it would be nice if this at least kept pace with cnM. Also, when I try to download a non-listed version it ends up failing and won’t keep the download.
I’m sure people are busy but it really seems like this app is an after thought or a “we have an app too” kind of product. I have a mix of CN and UI gear on our network and the stark difference between the apps from both companies is obvious. I can’t be the only one that wants to use this app for what it was intended to be. It just keeps falling down. I was getting around some of the limitations by downgrading firmware on the SM’s to 4.6.2 so I could keep using the old cnArcher 1.0 but that’s not going to work for much longer as I have a bunch of APs utilizing the 5.9 sta. I rely on the app to get customers installed because I don’t have time to preconfigure things in the office, nor am I at a place where I can justify the cost of cnMaestro X to auto provision. Id gladly purchase the app if that would help the devs to stay on top of it.
I brought up the CnArcher app for iOS issue last year at Wispa and was told that there were updates coming in the short future. Here we are a full year later and have yet to see an update of the app and still unable to connect to SM’s via CnArcher running anything above 4.6.2. The only workaround has been the trusty linktech. The CnArcher does have ability to upgrade to 4.7.1 but once you do that, you can no longer login to the SM which defeats the purpose of the app and also found that the Force 300 and 4625’s will not take a software update directly from the phone.
ot to hijack off topic. but with onboarding templates in cnmaestro (free) all theinstaller has to do is set the essid and update via a finalization template in nmaestro. We just use a mikrotik with poe out running off a milwaukee batter and connect to 169.254.1.1 from the phone.
I built a rig that onbard 9 radios at a time as they arrive, loads our default config on them, brings them to current firmware, etc. takes under 10 minutes per 9 radios, could do more if i wanted to add holders to the rig.
you really should take a look at maestro templates and firmware management, its totally free
@tophfro We have not done a good job of keeping the available releases in sync with cnMaestro and I agree that using the cnMaestro list is the best option. We will work on that.
In the meantime ePMP 4.8.1 has been added to the app. Please be sure to the use the new “Cambium Installer” app instead of the cnArcher app. You can get it by visiting https://www.cambiumnetworks.com/products/software/cambium-networks-installer/. All future updates will be done only in “Cambium Installer” app.
“Cambium Installer” is a cross platform app so the same functionality is available in both iOS and Android. With cnArcher, we had a native Android app and a native iOS app, and we struggled to keep them in sync. With “Cambium Installer”, we also added support for cnWave 60 GHz and cnWave Fixed 5G (28 GHz).
cnArcher will be removed from the App Store once customers migrate over to “Cambium Installer”. “Cambium Installer” does not support installing cnRanger SMs or onboarding Wi-Fi access points yet. Continue using cArcher if this capability is needed.
Thanks Rajesh, I’m sure you guys are being pulled in many directions and i appreciate you responding. I’m hoping that cambium will be a little better at communicating with its customers in the future. It seems like there’s a lot of good potential but the fit an finish just isn’t there yet. I’m hoping that the next few quarters will see some better cohesion between the products that are meant to interoperate with each other… Including the RV22. I’d like to be able to roll up to a customer install, grab any radio out of my truck stock, grab an RV22, and get it all set up and running fast and from one place, without having to get my laptop out. Cambium is touting its “ONE” network. I’d love to see that on the ISP side of the product lines.
So this doesn’t fall by the wayside: Today was another day I found myself extra frustrated with the cnArcher & Installer apps… I had a new out-of-the-box F300-25 to install at a customer’s home. Tried to pull it up in Installer on iOS and could not get it to recognize the SM. Launched cnArcher and boom, there it was. IT had firmware 4.5 on it so I loaded 4.7 to it from cnArcher, let the update finish, and SM reboot. As expected, it wouldn’t show up in cnArcher anymore, nor could i get it to show up in Installer. I had to go to the WebUI on my phone and attempt to get it connected to the tower so I could update to 4.8.1 via the WebUI on my phone. It’s really frustrating. Meanwhile, I did two other installs today at another tower with UI gear and it was a walk in the park…
@tophfro Could you please open a support ticket and also attach the debit logs from the Installer app. You can email the debug logs out by clicking on the menu icon in the top right and selecting “Report a bug”.
@Rajesh_V I would but the “report a bug” feature won’t send from my iPhone. I’ll get some screenshots and see if I can get a video of it not operating to send in with the ticket.
