Manufacturing moving to Taiwan?

I heard that 450 series manufacturing is moving to Taiwan? Or has already moved and new shipments will arrive in April?

Is this going to a contract manufacturer that already assembles product for Cambium, like ePMP? But I thought ePMP was made in China not Taiwan.

Do you think we need to track the first products out of the new factory (or that last ones out of Mexico) for possible defects? Like the first waffle from a new waffle iron often doesn’t come out right. Or will Cambium be sending people over to supervise and assist so these will be the best made radios ever?

Ken - It’s true that manufacturing has moved for many of our products (including the 450 platform). We are using a different contract manufacturer in Thailand (not Taiwan). Going forward, the model numbers will look slightly different (the last character will go from “a” to “b” for example), and they will have Country of Origin: Thailand (rather than Mexico).

This contract manufacturer is one that we’ve worked with very closely for many years already (making other products), and we are absolutely working closely with them to bring them up to speed. I fully expect to maintain exceptional quality or reliability with these products now coming from the new facility.
