MAX CABLE LENGTH from SOURCE > PIDU > ODU

Has anyoen done a survey on what the maximum cable lengths are from

source/switch/router to the PIDU

and from the

PIDU to the outdoor unit?

I have had some success with going a total of 130m, 60meters from switch in the comms hut,  70 meters to the antenna - but this link only goes at 100mbit/s

The maximum cable length support from the switch (or source) to the ODU is 100m (330ft.) which is hte typical Ethernet cable length supported.

To go further than that the PTP 650 and PTP 700 do support a fiber interface which can extend the distance significantly.  When using a fiber interface the AC+DC Power Injector can deliver power up to 300m (990ft).

For SMs, we've had cable runs as long as 600 feet.  Setting the port speed to 10 Mbps really helps stabilize it with longer runs.

Probably not a good idea with PTP650s, but it's a good thing to have in your tool belt.

When you say it can deliver power 300m, is that using Cat5e or something else?

That's 300 m using Cat-5.
