more bandwidth

We are running 2.5 Canopy systems with 5 ap’s and we have about 35-40 customers on line. The problem we are having is low bandwidth .We have 1 4 meg dsl line coming into our cmm. What can we do to get more bandwidth? We can add more dsl lines but do we need to add more cmm? Or is there something out there so that we can add more dsl lines to that one cmm?

what r u mean with “low bandwidth” ? between AP n SM or your internet bandwidth? I guest that is internet bandwidth, You can add another dsl line without add more cmm, you can use load sharing/balancing with two/more line so your traffic will be shared between two line.

Yes internet bandwidth. We need to figure out what type of equipment we
need to aggregate the multiple DSL lines to go into the single WAN port on
the CMM. What are others using?

you can use router that have dual WAN, cmm only use for canopy concentrator, gps timing and have no capability to routing packet. So speed that came to cmm is 100 Mbps  Remember 1 + 1 DSL line didn’t equal two DSL line, just traffic is shared between two lines. For brand i think there is Linksys or anything else. If u want to create own router you can use PC-based router to use load sharing traffic.

To keep the equipment costs low you could do manual load sharing. Simply add a small router for each DSL line and spread your customers between the routers. Connect all the APs, and a LAN port from each router, to an Ethernet switch. You’ll have to turn off the routers’ DHCP servers and statically assign IP addresses and default gateways to your customers.

This method is scalable, it’ll work for 2 or 20 DSL lines, but it’s an administrative headache having to eliminate DHCP.
