MySQL won't completely install, Windows XP

Okay, I’m a real dummy today…

I can “install” MySQL (for Prizm) but it won’t “finish” – it says it cannot start the service. All I’ve done is download the server 4.1 and execute the setup.exe file – it fails to start the service and stops the installation. Anyone know what’s up?

Windows event log says “Can’t initialize databases” uh …why not?

Figured myself out… if you do a re-install of MySQL, before trying to do so, make sure every scrap of MySQL is removed from your hard drive. Look everyone on the file system and if you can stomach poking around the Registry, do it there too. It’s installed and running as a service now…

No Pain, No Gain … right?
