I use PTP 450 gear and not ePMP gear at least thus far. I am seeing with units I use NAT on entries of “NAT Table exhausted” in my logs and also seeing that same information when reviewing the GUI under Logs->Nat table a text entry after the table.
I was wondering if there is an OID for both the current max setting related to the NAT Table entries ranging from 2048 to 8192 and also the number of entries in use. I don’t use cnMaestro at this point but I am also wondering if there is a gauge or other warning mechanism for when a NAT Table is exhausted or getting close to exhausted such as having a network operator warned when a NAT Table has 90% of the max entries. That might be a nice feature for those who use cnMaestro if not already there.
My assumption right now, and correct me if I am wrong, is that when a device like a Cambium CPE using NAT has the max NAT translation table setting reached new attempts to use the Internet such may not work until prior entries that may be related to illegal hacking are nonetheless timed out from the NAT translation table and from what I have observed when this is occurring whatever devices are filling the NAT translation table do so often before they allow the actual legal uses the customer was attempting to use.
