First of all i would like to say that i am new to epmp products and wireless setups as a whole. I have got two epmp 1000 one as a AP and the other as SM, the distance is about 5 km..... the max that i am getting is about 66 mbps of download and about 10 mbps of up load ... i would like to improve this ... any suggestion would be welcome... To be honest i would not have posted this question here ... however i am really not statisfied with the support that i am getting and now think may be it was a mistake to by this product. The guy who was suppose to help me and knew about Cambium products made his changes and shrunk the download to 50 mbps and upload to 30 mbps... I need more donload then up load. Sending an email to the cambium support is really not helping. I did not even get a response. I hope some one might be able to suggest me a few good tips... Please let me know any dettails you need..
Are you using 40 MHz channels? Those will give you the best chance to get more bandwidth. Also, check link ratio and change to 75 to 25 or 80 to 20. Tested and see if it makes a difference.
As well as the other suggestions so far, do you have any other AP's nearby, or is this a stand alone Access Point? The reason I ask is that you might also want to consider trying Flexible Frame settings on the AP and see what results you get.
Each mode gives some PROs and some CONs - Flexible vs Fixed Frame Ratio, and since you're new to wireless they might be tricky to explain all the in's and out's of why. :)
However, in the simplest form, the Fixed Ratios are going to be best suited if you're trying to organize and syncronise a bunch of nearby Access Points to not interfere with each other - BUT the side effect of this 'organization' and scheduling is a little less throughput and a little higher latency. Flexible Frames are more... flexible, but are a little less 'organized and scheduled' an the side effect can be higher throughput, BUT if you've got a bunch of nearby AP's, then they will self-interfere with each other in Flexible mode.
OH - the other thing I should say... I've found Cambium's support to be awesome. I mean, sometimes they are simply occupied with other things, but my experience is that they're much more responsive, much more interested, and MUCH MUCH more capable of helping than any other company we've dealt in the past. Certainly your experience may vary, but that's been my expeience. :)
2 .i just have 2 epmp 1000, one is setup as a AP, Access point mode selected is TDD, the other is Subscriber Module , Subscriber module mode is TDD. no other subscriber module.
3. I amd using 5GHz ... and sorry i have no idea where to find the noise floor..
Downlink RSSI
-55 dBm
Downlink SNR
42 dB
If this help for you to provide me with some idead.
The Channel thia i am using is 20 MHz and the frequency is 5775 .. tiried to usher Spectrum Analyzer with all the little knowledge i have ... I think it is pretty clean...
Will change the Channel to 40 MHz ... will do it today late night as the epmp are already installed and working.
i have changed the ration to 75/25 ... the options thiat i found were 75/25 , 50/50, 30/70 and flesible... did not find option for 80/20.... is that available in the latest firmware...
the software verions that i have is 2.6 was reading online that 3.0 is released so will try to upgarde as well.
Well the Epmp 100 that is setup up as the Access point is stand alone and has not other AP's near by. however at the receving end (subscriber Module). there is two more Access Points configure both are Power beam 400 from Ubnt.
but all three ( 1 Subscriber module and 2 Access Points) are in opposite directions. so i guess the interference might me mimimal ( please consider i am a new bie so please let me know if that is not true).
I did get a support number when we prurchased the epmp 1000, the support guy setup the AP as flexible. the max throughput we were getting was 55 mbps of download and 25 mbps of upload was fluctuating. Since i needed max download so ii changed to 75/25 ratio . which bumped the download a little to max 66 mbps. the upload dropped to max 11 mbps .
The AP are using Channel Width 40 MHz and frequency 5330 mhz and 4990 mhz ...
... Please let me know if there is somthing that need to change with this setup the channels etc.
Well to be honest with the support experience.... I have not received response to all my email that i submitted to support. the onlly number that i was given for support proved to be useless. The guy did help make some changes but the output was not what i wanted and then he mentioned that he would be calling me next to to assist me further .and never got any response again. So i am trying to get the issues resolve my self with the help of all your valuable suggestion to a newbie like myself.

Please go through with some of my oldest posts. This may help you understanding about some tools like spectrum analyser, Link planner and more which could help you planning the link.
