Hello,
At some instances, the cnReach N500 loses connection to the web browser GUI and displays “404 error”. Since every cnReach radio has two partitions for memory, the goal here is to swap the radio to other partition after the reboot. Following are some of the actions that may be taken to restore the access to radio:
- Check for the latest version of the internet browser (Chrome for example). If it is not running at the latest version, then first upgrade your internet browser to the latest available version.
- It is recommended to reboot cnReach N500 radio prior to any firmware or OS upgrade.
FIRST METHOD:
Try accessing the administration page by typing the following at your internet browser:
http://<IP address of the radio xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin.htm
- If successful, switch partition, which will bring the radio back to the previous partition, which is presumably in a functioning state. Following is the procedure required to switch “Boot from partition”
Click on “Change” button under “Boot from partition: X”
This will switch the radio to the other partition after reboot.
- From here, reboot the radio and attempt to access the UI as usual. Then do a firmware update with the currently running firmware.
Click on “Reboot” under “Reboot Device”
This will reboot the radio to the other partition and the “404 error” should not be seen any more after the reboot.
Upgrade the firmware by following the procedure from the User Guide, which can be found from the Cambium Networks Software Download site:
https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/n500/
Upon a successful firmware update, both partitions should now have functioning web pages.
SECOND METHOD:
If unable to view other web pages in the UI, log into the radio via serial (admin/admin) and issue the ‘bootpart’ command, which will switch partitions (same as above)
To access radio through serial port, use the following procedure:
- Connect Serial port to Serial port 1 of cnReach N500 radio
- Open a terminal emulator program shuch as Terra Term, Putty or Hyper Terminal and connect to the PC’s COM port
- Click on “Serial”
- User Speed (baud rate) as 115200
- Data bits 8
- Stop bits 1
- Click “Open” to open Putty Serial session
- Login as admin
- Enter “?” to get all the possible commands
