NSE 3000 Feature Request: IPv6

Hello all,
I am wondering when Cambium plans on releasing a Firmware version for the NSE 3000 that will support IPv6 for the WAN and LAN?

Hi Shawn,

IPv6 support is on the roadmap but we don’t have a committed date for it yet.

Ouch … I just stumbled over this one. I’m currently setting up an NSE 3000 and didn’t even double check before as this was really considered a basic feature. Sigh. It’s 2024. I have to abort this installation now and keep running the old router then, I guess.

I’d appreciate if I can subscribe somewhere to be notified once this changes … :frowning:

Following up here. I had a call with Cambium colleagues a few months ago that this would be on the Roadmap but no assurances yet.

I’m running a bit out of steam here - the Wifi stuff works great for me, but not having a functioning router solution makes me unable to upgrade a medium sized network (couple of dozen APs) as I don’t want to manage those without a proper integrated routing solution any longer … I’d hate to have to revamp that network with Unifi again …

So you have clients that actually need IPv6 routing?

Yes. Everybody needs IPv6 routing, because otherwise I’m not delivering an RFC compatible internet connection: RFC 6540: IPv6 Support Required for All IP-Capable Nodes

This has been an RFC/BCP since 2012.

So. From my side: I’m not buying vendor equipment any longer that doesn’t support IPv6 because it’s not RFC compliant.

IPv6 works well enough in the switches and APs if you roll out a different router, but I’d prefer a single pane of glass solution.
