Hi,
i want to ask why do i send all SM and AP ICMP packets to set DNS server? What is the reason? Is it possible to shut it down somewhere?
Hey zippo... could you please explain in better detail what you're trying to accomplish? I do not understand your question. Thanks!
when switching on fw on mem dns server I found out that all SM and AP send ICMP packets on it
Hi,
any answer here?
My BHs (ptp110), APs and bridged SMs are pinging my dns UP TO 6 times every minute (yes, one ping every 10 seconds).
Is this a normal behavior? Why this? How should I control this?
PSÂ
this MUST to be explained, because we HAD to know what happen if we use external DNS ora if we block some ICMP, etc.
Thank you
Hi,
It’s expected.
Ping to DNS is part of “Green Globe” feature which shows connectivity indication on UI.
Thank you.

I think a better way to handle it could be a field in settings:
"Check connectivity using this host (or ip address)"
I don't like to have my (or, worse, someone else!) DNS used as ICMP check without my knowledge.
BTW, we have a little number of ePMP, our networks is based on 450, but few hundreads/thousands of devices means 50/100 ping per seconds...
Thank you for your feedback.
We will take a look if we can re-design the feature in the foreseeable future.
Thank you.
