PMP 450 Subsciber limit?

Using the PMP 450 platform, what is the number of subscriber modules limited to per AP?

The limit is 238 Subscribers per sector.

The 450 platform has a concept of Virtual Circuits (VCs), which represents the link between the AP and SM.  When you enable QoS on 450, each level of QoS makes that connection by utilizing a VC.

Therefore, you can have 238 SMs on a sector, or 119 SMs with 2-level QoS, or 59 SMs using all 4 QoS priority queues.

Since each SM is configurable, you can utilize only the features you need.

Thank you for that explaination.
I have one more question to ask

MIMO is defined as multiple Input Multiple Ouputs but what is the definition Cambium uses for discussion?

Cambium uses this definition as well... and both ePMP and PMP450 platforms employ MIMO. In addition, the ePMP 3000 and PMP450m platforms further leverage MIMO by adding multi user MIMO aka MU-MIMO to increase aggregate AP capacity. There's a great video that Cambium has put out outlining how MIMO and MU-MIMO work HERE.

Just to add to what Matt said, as of 15.2 and later, most of the GUI refers to Data Channels instead of Virtual Circuits, but they are basically interchangeable. In SNMP commands, you may see both used, due to concerns with maintaining backwards compatibility.

Does the 450M allow for more that 238 subcriber count?

No, 450m also is limited to 238 SMs (or VC/Data Channels).

And this is HW limit or SW limit in current firmware?

With the 450m and up to 4 data channels per SM, it is very limitting.

Peca,

This is a software limitation on both the 450m AP and also the 450/450b/450i SM.

We are aware of this limitation and how easily it can be reached on 450m, especially if you are giving 4 Data Channels for each SM. We hope to one day increase this number. However, it is a large feature that impacts a ton of areas in the software, firmware and over-the-air interface, so can not be done quickly.

In the meantime, of course you can reduce the number of data channels on SMs where it is not critical, or further sectorize your system with another AP.
