PMP 450b Mid-Gain SM takes a long time to appear for adoption

PMP 450b Mid-Gain SM takes a long time to appear for adoption. I am a PMP450 Micropop as the AP for adopting. The SM’s are connecting using the ICC
Event logs on the MP show lots of file transfer error 28.

02/18/2021 : 10:54:08 UTC : :Update file transfer error: 28
02/18/2021 : 10:59:08 UTC : :Update file transfer error: 28

02/18/2021 : 11:24:10 UTC : :Update file transfer error: 28

Some SM’s appear within a few minutes others can take upto an hour. I am connecting 5 at once but this doesnt seem to make any difference to the time it takes.

Anyone have any ideas? GPS is sync’d ok. The mIcropop will occasionally suffer DFS, once a day, but it is in the corner of our office.

By “adoption” are you talking about the SM registering to the AP?
The first time a SM registers it can take a long time to find the beacon of the AP, as their internal clocks have to exactly match up. This is hardest at 5 MHz, easiest at 40 MHz. Having the AP on GPS sync ensures his frequency is exactly on, so just SM that might have to search a bit. Once a SM registers once, future Registrations will be faster.

I don’t think think the “Update file transfer error” is indicative of registration problem. This looks like you are trying to pull a image or config file?

What software versions are you running on AP/SM? Is SM seeing the beacons in the AP Evaluation?

I have 1 SM which will not register. Log files show…

I have tried different frequencies and numerous reboots.

Unfortunately this seems like a hardware failure, especially since doesn’t help over numerous reboots. Sorry about this. How many units have this failure?

If the unit is still under warranty, I suggest open a Customer Support ticket and getting the unit replaced.

Thanks. I have already raised a support ticket and replaced the unit.
The unit is brand new.

Ive had this same issue but with multiple units, almost half of our shipment. has there been any work around on this?

I see this issue randomly, but logging into the device remotely seems to push it through. I regularly confirm counts of SM’s and Onboarded radios. When I locate the missing SM and login, it seems to bump through.

I will be doing those checks again in a day or 2 and when I find a missing one, I will document the process closer.
