PMP 450i AP - Downgrading to v15.1.5 firmware

We received the unit with firmware v15.2.1. I cant seem to downgrade this to v15.1.5. The reason for the downgrade is ill need to keep DES until ive replaced all of our 430 SMs at the site over the next month or 2. Ive tried different versions of CNUT and tried downgrading in order. 15.2.1 --> 15.2.0.1 with no luck. I receive the error Invalid File Image (status:211). Any suggestions?

I've found that occasionally AP's will do that and after a reboot the update goes as planned.

Another trick (for me) is to restart CNUT.

Chris,

We did some improvements on the 450i hardware side that required new software. That new software went into 15.2.1. So if you have a latest version of 450i hardware, you cannot downgrade those specific units to earlier than 15.2.1. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Now if I could only write software now, predicting the hardware changes needed in the future. :)

You are right DES support ends in 15.2.1. However, you can still run sectors with 430 SMs till release 16.0.1.1.

Thank you for your response!

Estimated,
The latest version of the PMP430 SM is 13.4.1
Is it compatible with the PMP450 AP with version higher than 15.2.1?

Gustavo

@GustavoLusa,

The last version for a PMP 430 AP is 13.4.1.

However, the PMP 430 SMs were allowed to be put into “PMP 450 mode”. With this mode enabled, a 430 SM can come into session with any 450 platform AP.

The last version to support 430 SM in both “430 mode” and “450 mode” was 14.1.2. 14.2 and later only support “450 mode” on the 430 SM.

The last version of PMP 430 SM support in 450 mode is 16.0.1.1. After 16.0.1.1, PMP 430 is no longer supported.

Another note is that in order to upgrade a 430 SM running an old software version (such as 13.4.1) it will first need to be upgraded to 14.1.2. Then set to 450 mode. Then it can be upgraded to a later release.

One last compatibility note (not related to 430), is as of 16.1, 450 SMs will need to be on 15.2 or later to connect. And as always both sides of the link should be running the same software version.
