Cambium is officially releasing the PMP450x Radio 20.1 software.
Radio software and documentation can be found at https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/pmp450/.
CBRS procedures that involve both cnMaestro and radio software can be found in the cnMaestro repository at https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/cnmaestro/.
System Release 20.1 introduces two new products:
- Connectorized 5 GHz PMP 450 MicroPoP AP
- Connectorized 5 GHz PMP/PTP 450b
System Release 20.1 also adds support for the following new features:
- Intermediate Modulation Modes for PMP 450m AP
- BPDU Filter
For CBRS customers using Google SAS, the latest Google SAS code expects bulk heartbeat requests with not more than 120 SMs per message. For compatibility, it is critical that any sectors using Google SAS and containing more than 120 SMs per sector be upgraded to System release 16.2.1 or a later build. In addition, Cambium suggests any customers with CBRS sectors using Google SAS and approaching 120 SMs per sector also upgrade those sectors ASAP to avoid any future problems.
Upgrade SMs first to System release 20.0 and then upgrade the AP, otherwise SMs will connect but at a maximum modulation rate of 2X MIMO-B, until both sides are running System release 20.0.System Release 20.0 introduces support for TLS v1.2 and v1.3. TLS v1.1 is no longer supported. CNUT 4.13.3 supports TLS v1.1 only and cannot upgrade PMP/PTP devices running System release 20.0 or later that are configured for HTTPS only web access.
Connectorized 5 GHz PMP 450 MicroPoP AP
System Release 20.1 introduces a connectorized version of the 5 GHz MicroPoP AP.
Following are the key features:
- Can be used with an external antenna.
- Limited to 20 Subscribers and 2 miles range, but can be extended to 238 SMs and maximum range via license key.
- Integrates seamlessly with existing 450 platform devices to extend coverage to obstructed or hard-to-reach areas, affordably.
- Onboard GPS to provide synchronization with network
- Gigabit Ethernet Interface provides the maximum transfer rates to the device.
- Centralized cloud management using cnMaestroTM.
To learn more about these features, please refer to the Cambium 450 Platform Configuration Guide System Release 20.1.
Connectorized 5 GHz PMP/PTP 450b
System Release 20.1 introduces a connectorized version of the 5 GHz PMP 450b radio. This device can be used both in PMP (SM) mode and in PTP mode.
Following are the key features:
- Can be used with an external antenna.
- Supports frequency range from 4900 MHz to 5925 MHz.
- 3.5 mm audio jack for alignment tone.
- Enhanced packet processing power.
- Up to 300 Mbps aggregate in 40 MHz channel.
To learn more about these features, please refer to the Cambium 450 Platform Configuration Guide System Release 20.1.
Downlink Intermediate Modulation Modes for PMP 450m
This feature is automatically enabled at the AP and will be functional if the AP is running System release 20.1 or later software and SMs are running System release 20.0 or later software. This feature adds 3 new modulations:
- 3x (8-QAM)
- 5x (32-QAM)
- 7x (128-QAM)
This feature is supported on PMP 450m AP in the downlink direction only. As shown in the figure below, the additional modulation levels are added to the following configuration parameters:
- Downlink Maximum Modulation Rate
- Multicast Data Channel Modulation Rate
BPDU Filter
This release supports filtering BPDU packets in uplink and downlink directions. This can be configured in Configuration → Protocol Filtering → Packet Filter Configuration page.
