Preferred APs unexpected behaviour

Hi team Cambium,

We really LOVE the primary AP reconnect function on the ePMP subscriber units. It’s saved us a LOT of hassle when an AP goes down or even just reboots. The fact that your main rival has refused to implement this for years speaks volumes.

However we’re getting some unexpected behavior causing customers short disconnects once per hour. Subscriber is F300-25 firmware 5.10. Our AP with SSID dalNE3 has died and we’re awaiting weather to clear to attend to this (it doesn’t have a lot of clients on it). In the meanwhile, we enabled compatibility mode on the ePMP4500L sector on that tower. Subscriber successfully connects. With the setting below, I would expect the client to attempt to the primary AP (dalNE3) once per hour ONLY if this SSID is broadcasting (which it isn’t). Unfortunately it’s attempting to connect to the SSID dalE3 once per hour (MAC address of this AP is 58:C1:7A:74:08:05). This is unexpected as this SSID is lower down in the preferred AP list than the current SSID dalE4K that the subscriber is connected to.

We are working on the second stage of the Primary AP reconnect feature that will allow radios that have dedicated radio for the spectrum analyzer(scanning) break the connection and try to re-connect to the primary AP if only it’s SSI is broadcasted at that moment of time. It’s supposed to be delivered in scope of 5.11 firmware in Q3 this year.

Thank you.

Hi Fedor,

Thanks for the update. I’ve changed our radios to “Fixed Daily Time” for the moment.

Could you advise which radios will facilitate the new feature when it’s implemented.
