Problems with receive throughput speed when roaming APs

Hi

i have 2 e400's, setup with 2.4 and 5 ghz, band steering enabled, all the fast roaming protocol options enabled.

I have 1 SSID

i must admit years of installing ubiquity unifis for customers has made me lazy due to simple setup requirements on the unifi, i may not have these APs configured correctly, i decided to give these a go and my home premesis to see how they compare, since you had a pretty good promo going on.

I have seen the following issues on my HTC one M7, Nexus 7 2nd Gen, Galaxy note  5, ipad mini 2, but not on my microsoft suface, nor HP Probook laptop. i had this from day 1 installing these units

the problem seems to be when roaming between the APs, the device will switch to the new AP, but the Receive throughput to the device is complely limited to <0.5mbit, but no problem with TX, can still get full speed.

I also suspect the problem only occurs when it roams to the new AP and switches to 5Ghz

so for example, on my note 5, i will walk between the 2 APS, it will switch to the cloest one, 5Gz, the note will say its connected at 500Mbit+ for example, but the actual receive throughput is almost unusuale, <0.5mbit BUT no problems on the TX throughput, this is stull full speed, this  problem only effects  the RX.

turning the wifi off and on on these devices instantly solves the issue and RX speed is back to normal, and

they will work perfectly until the next time i roam.

this problem occurs testing on both LAN and internet traffic.

i know its not just me having this issue as i have heard another report of same behaviour with the e400 on my local forums.

Any clue what is wrong

How are you measuring the tx and rx speeds (the 500Mbit and 0.5Mbit, is that from the AP stats or something on the client)? Also, just as an experiment could you turn off band-steering and see if it makes a difference (or run both APs on one band to see if this is a cross-band roam issue: ie. set the radio-band in WLAN config to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz on both APs).

Could you please also email us a tech-support from the AP to support@cambiumnetworks.com so we can check the logs and see if that tells us what is going on when some of these clients are roaming. You can access it from the AP GUI under 'Operations'. Click the tech-support button and it'll download a file to your browser that you can then email out to us.

the  500mbit approx im getting that from the android phone wireless conneciton status information

im measuring the actual throughput speeds when the issue occurs, using Ookla to my ISPs speedtest server,  and es file explorer to transfer files within the lan

the problem is the devices say they are connected at geat wireless speeds like above, but actual receive throughput is completely limited to <0.5mbit, when this issue occurs. turning thw wifi off and on on those devices, instantly solves the issue.

i turned off band steering last night on the second AP am waiting to see if the same issue occurs,

ive sent a email with the log link, unfortuantly i had to put the logs in dropbox, message protect is having trouble

scanning the log file, which is unsuual.
