PTP 650s resetting

Hello All,

I have four links that are all running connectorized PTP 650s.  All of them run great and have the expected bandwidth and such for our design and system.

However, I have noticed that they seem to "reset" themselves at times, almost like a watchdog timer or keep-alive feature which has been troublesome.  One of the links runs to a single connection site which runs the southern area of our radio network, so when it does this it brings down the whole area for a few minutes.

Is there a way to disable this?  I don't think it's a hardware issue, as all four of them do this, and one was bought about six months before the other three.

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

I'm glad that the overall experience is good, but can understand that unexpected reboots are never welcome.

If you haven't done so already, could you enable syslogs? The syslog might capture the cause of the reboot.

Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark-

I get "long power cycle" out of the syslog before the reboots.

Hi Josh,

Reboot Reason = Long Power Cycle means that power has failed at the ODU. You can check Reboot Reason on the Reboot Wireless Unit page like this:

The same reason is in the syslog.

Sometimes the reboot reason is reported as Unknown following a power cycle.

Is it possible that site power is intermittent?

Thanks, Mark
