PTP550 Alternative

Greetings Everyone,

We are currently running a set of PtP 550 as a Backhaul to a mission critical site. They run very well but the throughput is starting to bottleneck. Link distance is 35.5km so 80 Mhz Channels are unfortunately not going to work.

I would like to upgrade this link, licensed or unlicensed, and would appreciate any suggestions regarding which radio model would be suitable.

Please use LinkPlanner to choose the best possible licensed product. I would suggest you look at PTP850C.

I would seriously consider 4600c and demote current ptp550 to a backup also, I would look at redirecting low-priority traffic through the slow ptp550, such as Microsoft patches, youtube videos etc, of course this needs to be achieved by other intelligent tools/means in the infrastructure, not through Cambium radios themselves.

if someone doesn’t like the idea of non-licensed 4600c to be the main link, yeah, buy anything licensed and make 4600c backup. Because this is mission critical site, it really deserves some backup nonetheless.
