it would appear the most SM’s when upgraded from 7.x to 8.x and up go to region code other by default. I set them at US when i come across them, but was curious, is there really any difference between “other” and US?
only on equipment that needs to use DFS. say if you set a 5.4 to other rather than US. I think it disables DFS. but this is not applicable to 2.4/5.7/900
when an SM registers to an AP it inherits whatever region code the AP has. (it won’t change what the web page shows on the SM but it will operate with the settings for that region codes) that is why when you get a new AP it is set to “none” from the factory and forces you to pick a valid region code.

So even though it says "other" it really is operating as U.S because thats what the AP is set too?
Thats the kinda info i was looking for. thanks.
From the release notes:
not that any one would ever violate an FCC reg, whats to stop a US user from setting another region to bypas DFS or use whatever that regions outputs are?
