Reset QOE config & PCAP vs DPDK

Is there a way to reset or erase the QOE config back to factory default?

My situation is that my QOE Server was recently setup, and it seems to makes everything really slow for any clients downstream of it. It setup my data interfaces in PCAP mode (that was the default selected during setup) and then today I was reading that PCAP is slower and DPDK should be used IF the interfaces support it. So, I re-ran the ‘wizard bta’ and selected DPDK instead.. but QOE now totally doesn’t see my data interfaces anymore. So, it’s no longer working at all, and I also can’t do the wizard anymore, because it no longer sees those two data interfaces, and just says "I need at least 3 interfaces’ (which of course I have 3 interfaces… it’s just that the two data interfaces are in an incompatible mode now)

Anyway - I’m thinking if I can edit some config file manually back to PCAP mode, or if I can delete the config file and then be able to rerun the wizard to get back operational?

Hmmm… assuming you’re using supported interfaces, they should just appear. What is the make/model of interfaces you’re using?

Intel I226v dual card. (EDITED: Now is an Intel Converged X550T2 Card)

It did show up and worked when it was set to PCAP, it stopped immediately when I tried reconfiguring to DPDK.

And the card is still fine - if I go into the BIOS, it shows up as a network device there. The switch lights up & negotiates a link when the cable is plugged in. If I pop it into a Windows server, it’s happy there.

I’m pretty sure if I totally reinstalled from an ISO (wiped out the server and totally reinstalled everything) it’d probably start working again in QOE too… but I was thinking if there was a config file I could edit (or delete) so that those cards didn’t try to start in DPDK mode, that might do it too.

EDIT MAY 9/2025: I replaced the Intel i226v card with an X550T2 Card (Intel Converged 10GB, 2.5GB, 1GB) and now I can select DPDK mode. :+1: Connecting the server on our networks still makes everything downstream really slow so far, but that’s probably me not understanding how to use it still.

So I have a sport ticket open with Cambium as well, but so far No answer on how to reset the configuration or manually edit the configuration of those Interfaces back to PCAP.

So I went ahead and wiped out the server and reinstalled the QOE software from scratch. As I expected, that solved it and the installation was happy to see those interfaces and allow me to configure them, and the server is working again.

So the interfaces were there, were physically working – just that I had tried configuring them as DPDK mode, and that broke things so that I couldn’t even re-configure them back to PCAP. It’s worrisome that trying a different configuration setting could break the software so badly. But there probably is a way to manually edit or delete that config mistake, and then reconfigure… I just didn’t know how to do it.

EDIT: Support Ticket replied and there is a way to ‘clear config’. So, since I have just reinstalled everything to fix it, I’m now going to try to re-break it again, and then see if ‘clear config’ does allow me to re-config without having to re-install the server.

EDIT#2 - So yes - Tech Support replied to my ticket and there is a way to clear a broken config.

configure

Obviously this needs to be used with caution, because it’ll also reset the network configuration, so you’d need to be directly connected to the console - but in my case, I have a server with a keyboard and monitor, so I had console access that way. So, after clearing, and after a reboot, I was then able to re-run the ‘wizard bta interactive’ and re-configure the data interfaces
