RF Quality - SS0 (poor)

Since my first Force300 ePTP link in 2019 to this day there’s fault that has never gone away. I get a message from a customer saying slow internet - I check in on the link they’re behind and see DL modulation is at SS0, with DL capacity of around 5Mbps. I reboot the link and the issue is gone, until the next time.

I’ve let support know and they give me a beta firmware, the issue doesn’t go away and the complaints still come in to this day.

I’ve seen this with F425 link with earlier firmware but not for a while. The other day I found 4 different Force300 (13, 16 and 25) links all running at MCS DL SS0. A reboot fixed them all immediately.

It would be nice if Cambium could fix this.

We have a BUNCH of Force 300 (300c and 300-25) as backhauls, and we run then in TDD mode. Otherwise, in ePTP mode they will all eventually fail. In TDD mode, we find them very reliable, and perform more stable. .:woman_shrugging:

Most of the time, we don’t even have to reboot them… if we have access to the AP side, just deregistering the SM and having it re-associate is usually enough for it to get it’s head back on straight. But as I said, we’ve got to TDD mode and that’s been better for us.

Hello @riddle,

how frequently and on which FW does it happen? Reboot only resolves it or deregister can fix it too?
I will really appreciate if you can PM me a techsupport file when it is in progress on 4.8.1

Ive not tried deregister, only reboot. Been a problem since 2019 on all firmwares and on most, but not all eptp links. I will email you some support files.

This is interesting as we have had this same issue with a 400C link on ePTP for years as well. Changing the max rate and saving kicks it back working as well we found. Originally we only rebooted. Issue has persisted in all software versions to current. Have never tried TDD but will give it a shot.

We’ve seen this a few times on a 425 PTP link. Changing channels also brings it back to normal. We have about 15 other 425 links that have not had the issue. Not sure what’s unique about this one link.

For the record, I PM’d Andrii and heard nothing back. Still nothing back from my support request either. To be fair, I have not yet seen this occur on 5.8.

My 425 and 400c drop link every few days running 5.8. Its the worst firmware so far for my 400c links. I put 425 links on 5.6rc9 and reboot every week. Not great after nearly 3 years i think.
