I want you guys to advice the best option of setting date and time on all canopy devices on my network i.e. CMM micro, BH master, BH slaves, APs and SMs.
I am aware that the CMMs get their date and time from the GPS antenna which gets it’s time from various satellites. The CMMs give this information to the BH master and APs. The BH master gives this information to the BH slave. The APs give this information to the SM. Is this correct?
If yes - how do I go about it.
1. How do I configure the CMM micro to receive time from the GPS.
2. How do I configure the BH master to receive time from the CMM micro
3. How do I configure the BH slave to receive time from the BH master
4. How do I configure the AP to receive time from the CMM micro
5. How do I configure the SM to get time from the AP.
I am aware the you can use an NTP server to push date and time information to the canopy devices. I don’t want this option.
I will appreciate any pointers you guys can give me.
The CMM one every second inserts variation in the power level which is interpreted by the AP or BHM as sync signal. The idea is all the network to be synchronized in exact millisecond so upload or download are done in same time and self interference is avoided.
1. Just install the CMM, see the manual
2. Set it to receive sync trough the power port
3. It will receive it automatically.
4. AP and CMM should be in same subnet and same management vlan. Use the ip address of the CMM as NTP adress.
5. It will receive it automatically.
