Trouble Connecting a Cambium V5000 with a some V2000s

I set up the V5000 using the onboard E2E setting. Added all my sites, Nodes, and one link. When I configure the 1 V2000 Node as the CN for that one link I created. Neither the V5000 or even the V2000 appear to see each other. The V2000 even shows that the Layer 2 bridge is disabled. I’m not new to using wireless bridges but this is my second time using Cambium devices. These devices are much more challenging that the previous devices I have configured. If there a trick to get these devices to play nice together, I am definitely missing it from the instructions. A little help would be much appreciated.

Hello De Vaughn Elledge, Sorry to hear you’re having issues. Whilst there are a few steps to take to get a network setup, once you’ve done one you’ll be able to string hundreds together.

So why didn’t this work, are you doing this indoors? If so you may need to force disable the GPS. cnWave 60GHz utilises GPS to ensure your radios synchronize to enable dense deployment and reduce interference. However unless you force disable the GPS the radio’s will not transmit.

If you are indoors also consider using the low power mode, this avoids over powering the link before ATPC has chance to optimise the power once the link is established.

At Config->Node->Radio:

  1. Turn GPS off by enabling ‘Force GPS Disable’

  2. Use short range optimized

Please also ensure the right sector is connected to the V2000:

Once you in the field it’s important that the installer points the front of the DN in the direction planned in those tools, this ensures the sites are aligned to the plans you have made.

But you are correct the SPF+ is on the Sector 1 side, I suspect for lab work this is a good aid to remember, thank you!

If you are still having issues, please raise a ticket and if you are using cnMaestro or can provide access the team will help debug live.

Hi De Vaughn elledge, for me to share more comments/rootcause, i would need your help to get me field diags of both your V5000 and V2000.

snippet to assist you to find/download field diags

Thanks Antony for your response, I have done all of those things but I may have gotten my sectors mixed. I am indoors because I wanted to connect all 3 of the initial devices, V2000 CNs, to the V5000 prior to their install. The later devices will just have to be added when the entities are ready for their connection.

Hi Prasanna,

When I get back in the office, I will send the diags to you.

I figured out the issue with my devices, thank for all of your help!!

Would you mind sharing the issue with the community, so that if someone has a similar problem in the future, they might find this thread helpful?

(Or perhaps there is something we can do in the product to make it easier to self-diagnose the problem?)

How did it go, most of the time when people try it in doors they put the V5000 upside down and that will cause confusion with the sectors.

Then we get reflection etc which can connect sometimes. This devices are high power so can bounce around a room.

Just remember to switch GPS and high power mode back on before you go to the field.

To added new nodes, there are many ways to do this. But most of the time it’s can be done in advance and remotely.

For a few units, yes you have to enter the Site, Node and Link details but you can use either the GUI or there are RESTful APIs if you want to automate this.

In addition, you can import Site/Node and Link data from your LINKPlanner.
