Upgrading cnMatrix EX1010-P 5.0.3-r4 to 6.1-r7 caused a bootloop

Just to let you know I performed an upgrade for the:

cnMatrix EX1010-P and cnMatrix EX1028-P last night. Both from version 5.0.3-r4 to 6.1-r7.
However the cnMatrix EX1010-P was stuck in a boot loop after it, and it only get out of it by resetting it by physically pressing the reset button. Power on and off did not help. When it came back it was indeed upgrade but the inactive software version dissapeared which should be 5.0.3-r4

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the update, and I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you ran into with the EX1010-P upgrade.

We’ve seen this behavior occur in a few instances, and I want to assure you that the issue has been identified and will be addressed in the upcoming firmware release 6.1.1.

In the meantime, we do have a pre-release build (6.1.0-506) available that includes the fix for this specific issue. If you’re open to trying it, I’d be happy to share the build with you and work closely to gather your feedback and ensure a smooth experience.

Let me know how you’d like to proceed.

Sure I’m happy to try that release, but don’t we need another upgrade after that release to test it?

Hi Adam, Prior to the upgrade to 6.1-r7, was IGMP snooping enabled on the EX1010-P and on VLAN 1? I want to confirm the root cause is the same one that we will fix in 6.1.1.

the answer is yes IGMP snooping was enabled on all 5 vlan including the native vlan 1

Hi Andy,
Once you’ve upgraded the firmware to version 6.1.0-506, please follow the steps below to verify if the firmware resolves the issue:

  1. Disable the IGMP Snooping configuration on the switch and perform a sync.
  2. Re-enable the IGMP Snooping configuration and sync again.
  3. Reboot the switch.

After the reboot, the switch should come back online normally without entering a reboot loop.
