Can anyone tell me if I need to update firmware in any order, or can I say go from 4.2.3 to 7.2 directly?
Read the RELEASE NOTES .PDF that you can download from the same area of the firmware.
The release notes gives you the UPGRADE PATH.
There are a few major changes along the way that you need to perform through gradual updates.

Our upgrade order has gone: 4.2.3/6.1/7.0.7/7.1.4
same here… now have also included 7.2.9
Yes but is it possible to go from 6.1 to 7.2? It may not be supported but is it possible. Whats the worst that can happen. With 450 radios pretty much sitting at 6.1 I might take the chance and deal with the one or two lost radios rather than spending an extra day or more to go through two updates.
Thanks for the info everyone, but I do wish we could upgrade straight from 6 to 7.2…
