Using cnArcher with a WiFi access point and Android phone

Though we recommend using the cnArcher with Powerlink PoE battery, you can use the below setup to configure the SM without a Powerlink.

The SM should be connected to the LAN port, not the WAN port. This setup will not work right away as most routers have NAT in 192.168.x.x/24 subnet while the SM is on 169.254.1.1

From Android 10 and above the cnArcher cannot override the IP configuration of the phone. As a workaround the below steps can be followed:

Step 1: Connect the phone to the AP WiFi.

Step 2: Select “cnArcher is not managing the WiFi.”

Step 3: Manually configure the IP address of the phone to 169.254.1.x/24 . ex 169.254.1.10/24.

Settings>>Wifi>> SSID>configure>>advanced>>IP address>>static. (this can vary from vendor to vendor but path remains same.)

Step4: Open the app again and it should be able to communicate with the SM via the wifi AP.

The SM should be detected by the cnArcher and ready to be configured.
