What are some of the characteristics of the SM?
Can be configured to be a:
- NAT device
DHCP server
DHCP client
PPPoE (Release 9.0 and higher)
Configurable via SNMP or a web based GUI.
Gets its power via PoE (Power over Ethernet) through its singe Ethernet port.
Currently SM’s can be purchased in the 900MHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, 5.4 GHz, and 5.7 GHz frequencies.
Acts as a layer 2 bridge when NAT disabled
Has port filtering capabilities
Can serve multiple computers and IP appliances.
The maximum downlink speed is greater than 4 Mbps.
Default maximum uplink speed is 1 Mbps.
