I think N-female

mostly N-male

N-female is found in antenna

i checked radio shack.com but all that had that was close was a TNC connector. is that the same thing?

which antenna in particular. All outdoor antennas I have worked have had N-type female connectors in them

a m2 antenna. just the standard connector on a SM

You need a cable with an N-Male on it to run from the radio pigtail to the antenna connector.

The antennas that are found on all of the equipment we deal with here (save Cisco products and a few others) are all n-female panel mounts.

i work at a radioshack occasionally, they dont carry much in the way of connectors that fit our needs ive discovered. Go to ebay to get cable ends and whatnot for a good price. sky2web is the seller i deal with, straight shooter, good prices fast shipping (not advertising, just sayin where i get stuff)
