WiFi RF Safety

I'm involved in a project to install several cnPilot e410's in a small school, and the school administration is inquiring about the health effects of RF exposure from the WiFi radios all day long. I have to imagine this isn't the first time someone has brought up this concern, so I was hoping someone knew of a White Paper or something similar that I could send to the school administrators to help educate and give them some reassurance that WiFi is safe.

Can anyone recommend any resources?

Many thanks,

Hi Jim,

Here is a resource from the World Health Organization: https://www.who.int/peh-emf/publications/facts/fs304/en/

Their conclusion is that:

Considering the very low exposure levels and research results collected to date, there is no convincing scientific evidence that the weak RF signals from base stations and wireless networks cause adverse health effects.

very good question Jim. Here are a couple of articles that you can look thru:

Since Wi-Fi access points are normally mounted on ceilings or walls and not right next to you (like a cell phone) it does make the impact less and Wi-Fi signal levels are lower than cell phone signals. As the one article mentions there is also the wired option (such as our cnMartix Ethernet switches) if you wanted to avoid any wireless signals and go wired.

cnMaestro (our device cloud management application) also allows you to set the Wi-Fi transmission levels so you can use that as well to just make the e410 AP signal levels strong enough to cover a room or whatever area youw ant to cover so-as to keep the radiated level as low as possible.

Hopefully this helps give you some background and ideas of how to get the best solution and safest for your schools.

Excellent reference! Thanks much for your help! I think this will go a long way to helping this customer get comfortable with the WiFi in their building.

Much appreciated,

Thanks Jim! Great articles. I appreciate your help!
