XV2-2T0 Version 6.5.2.1-r3
Am noticing that as configured in US region, am unable to set Transmit Power to 30 on Channel 149.
It keeps saying that my regulatory max is 21.
Did the FCC change the rules?
XV2-2T0 Version 6.5.2.1-r3
Am noticing that as configured in US region, am unable to set Transmit Power to 30 on Channel 149.
It keeps saying that my regulatory max is 21.
Did the FCC change the rules?
The regulator allows for a maximum power of 30 dbm, i.e. the strength of the signal transmission plus the gain of the antenna.
In the case of this device, the antenna gain is 9.3 dbm, adding to this the transmit power of 21 dbm, you get the FCC allowed 30 dbm
Cool
I did not realize it was factoring in the antenna gain.
I find it strange that the setting itself says the range can go up to 30.
Are there regions that allow up to 39/40 dbm then?
Yes, We have given this option to configure as we have different AP models with Tx power and antenna gain. The User allows configuring as per AP capability and country regulations.
The XV2-2T0 max TX conducted setting is actually limited to 28dBm by design but the antenna gain, regulatory region, and channels will dictate how high it can actually be set.
Channels?
Again, regardless of which channel I set - the unit will only allow 21 max.
It presents me an error/notice about regulatory limits if I try anything over 21 on ANY channel.
Most radios will limit the amount on DFS channels, and allow higher on non-DFS.
Any idea why this should be different for the XV2-2T0 ?
Please see the below. The upper 5GHz channels ( UNII-3) do allowed up to 27 dB so from what interface (CLI, Web UI, cnMaestro, XMS-Cloud) are you seeing the error. Perhaps send a screenshot. BTW, the CLI command “show wireless radio channels us” can be your new best friend

I cannot set power on channel 149 to 27.
It keeps putting the error on top of the screen, as you will see in the picture.
I also currently have an ongoing (3 weeks) ticket whereas the MESH-CLIENT keeps randomly dropping
(client sends dissac) that support is unable to resolve.
This is happening enough that the users are complaining to campground management.
I have been warned by the customer that these units might have to be removed…

From the Web GUI of the XV2-2T0 I am seeing:
I would not expect this operation. I would expect that you should be able to set to 27 on this portion of the 5GHz band. This needs to be looked at
I just tried via the Web UI and had no issue setting 5GHz radio to channel 149 and 27. BTW, I am using Chrome browser, not that it should matter. I suspect there is old data in your browser cache. Cam you please clear that browser cache and try again. If you still have an issue, then please try to SSH to the AP and try via CLI.
CLI commands:
wireless radio 2
power 27
