cnArcher v1.1 is now available for Android. To get the app, please go to the cnArcher page in the Play Store.
What's New
Upgrade/Downgrade SM Firmware
You can now change the firmware version on the SM by touching the version displayed on the home screen and selecting the desired version. You will be asked to select from a list of firmware versions that have been downloaded to the phone.
Please download the desired firmware versions by navigating to "Settings > Software Images".
Quick Align" Mode
Use the "Quick Align" mode to re-align an SM that has already been installed and configured. After alignment, you will also be able to run a link test.
Export and Import cnArcher Configuration
This feature allows you to create a master configuration for cnArcher and share it easily with other installers.
To export the configuration, go to "Settings", scroll down to the bottom and click on "Export Configuration". This will allow you to email out the configuration file. Please email this to yourself, as the file itself cannot be imported back. The exported configuration is in JSON format.
Use a QR code generator service like http://goqr.me/ to convert the JSON text to QR code. You can now send this QR code to another installer to import.
To import the configuration, go to "Settings", scroll down to the bottom and click on "Import Configuration". This will open up the Camera. Please use it to scan the QR code. The scanned in configuration will completly overwrite the existing configuration.
For a brand new install of cnArcher, you will see an option to scan in the configuration using a QR code as an alternate to walking through the initial setup.
Please be aware that if the JSON file is longer than 500 to 700 bytes, the QR code becomes too dense and scanning using the camera will be difficult. The most common culprit is the scan list. We have already optimized how it is represented in the exported file. For example, if you select 5750 and 5780 MHz, the export will say "5750-5780". But if your scan list consists of every alternate frequency, each one will be listed individually and you will see the size grow pretty fast.
Enhanced Control for Wi-Fi Connection Setting
You can now choose if you want cnArcher to manage the Wi-Fi connection or not.
When cnArcher is managing the Wi-Fi connection, it will automatically switch to using a static IP when it wants to talk to the SM, and to DHCP when it wants to talk to cnMaestro.
When cnArcher is not managing Wi-Fi, it expects you change the connection settings. For example, if your network is not setup to assign DHCP IP to the phone, and you prefer using 4G to talk to cnMaestro, you would select "cnArcher is not managing Wi-Fi" and manually turn off Wi-Fi when you see the message "Trying to connect to cnMaestro" in the app.
"Long Press" Support
You can long-press the cnArcher icon to see a list of short cut actions. Selecting one of them will take you directly to the screen for that function. You can also touch and drag any item to the home screen of the phone to create a shortcut that will launch that function directly.
Work Orders
A "work order" collects all information required by the installer into one place. This includes details of the subscriber including name and address, as well as configuration parameters for the SM. You can access the "Work Orders" screen by selecting it from the menu.
There are two ways to add a new "Work Order".
- Scan in the work order details from a QR code using the phone camera. You can generate the QR code at https://www.cambiumnetworks.com/cnarcher-work-order/
- Manually enter work order details
You can select the "Mode" as "Editable" or "Automated". In "Editable" mode, the SM parameters (SM name, IP settings, VLAN settings etc) are automatically filled in during install and the installer is allowed to change the values. In "Automated" mode, installer is not allowed to change the parameters from what is specified in the "Work Order".
To start the installation using a "Work Order", go to the "Work Orders" screen using the menu, and click on "Start Install" link for the desired work order. Alternately, if your location matches the address in a work order, that work order will be automatically selected for you on the main screen.
Installation Summary
"Installation Summary" feature allows the installer to review details of completed installs. This can be accessed by selecting "Work Orders" from the menu, and scrolling down past open work orders to see the list of completed work orders, and clicking "Summary" for the work order you are interested in. Even if the install was done without a corresponding work order, a fake work order is created to store the installation summary.
Add Photos to the Installation Summary
You can add up to 4 photos to the "Installation Summary". To add a photo, touch the "Camera" icon on the "Installation Summary" screen. You can also open the "Installation Summary" screen of a completed install from the "Workorders" page and add photos. The photos will be included when you share the "Installation Summary" via email.
Option to Skip Wi-Fi Setup
If you would like to manage the connectivity to the radio (and to cnMaestro, if used) yourself, you can now click on "Skip Wi-Fi Setup" when you get to the Wi-Fi screen during first time setup. If you do this, you are responsible for ensuring that the app can talk to the SM IP to perform the install, and to cnMaestro when the app is ready to on-board the SM into cnMaestro.
Additional AAA Settings
When authenticating to a RADIUS server, the app now allows you to configure all supported options like "Phase 1", "Phase 2", "Identity" and "Realm". Previously, only username and password could be configured.
Show AP Name in addition to AP MAC
If cnMaestro support is enabled in the app, it will download and cache the AP names from cnMaestro. When displaying information about the AP (for example, after "AP evaluation" or in the "Installation Summary", it will display the name of the AP in addition to the AP MAC.
Specify SNMP Community String
When working with an SM that is not using factory defaut credentials, you can now specify the SNMP read-write community string that cnArcher should use to communicate with the SM. You can set this by going to the "Settings" screen, and updating the "Community string" item in the "PMP Setting" section.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed PPPoE support. Please upgrade to v1.1 if you are using PPPoE
- Fixes related to PMP450 3.5GHz, PMP450 3.65GHz and PMP450i 3GHz SMs.
Known Issues
- If you are using PMP v15.2 beta on the SM, please select "AES" for "PMP SM Encryption" in the app even if you are running without encryption. PMP v15.2 no longer supports DES. The app does not support AES256 yet. (Fixed in cnArcher v1.1.11)
- On "Samgsung Edge" phones, app may stop detecting the SM after multiple installs. If this happens, please uninstall and reinstall the app.
- When adding a new "Work Order" by scanning a QR code, if the work order includes PSK, the app will crash.
