cnMaestro X pricing

@ninedd - Have your housing authority review and compare what Meraki charges for their subscription… Did you present that to the board, what other vendors charge for subscriptions – the overall TCO.

Hi Anthony - They went with another solution, from a provider without recurring fees. I was unable to ‘win the room back’ after that, which was my bad for pitching Cambium as the first/best option.

We live and learn with our daily experiences :). Next time!

Once they pulled all the reporting features cnMaestro became basically useless for us. If we didn’t have to have it for CBRS I wouldnt even bother. The price for X is just laughable to me.

What is the price per device?

something like 30 bucks per ap and almost 10 per sm, I can’t recall the exact numbers.

Actually there hasn’t been a charge for SMs for over two years now.

You should contact your distributor for current pricing.

Still too expensive. Especially considering I’m hosting it myself. I just want more historical data, yet to get that for some reason I have to subscribe to a support plan that I don’t need/want. My last 3 year pricing was 18K to cover the network, just to view historical data. This issue still shows a massive disconnect between Cambium and the ISP consumer. Maybe that pricing works fine for the wireless/enterprise section, but I have yet to meet a single WISP that has bought cnMaestro for the ISP side.

Digging this thread up again. When I was at Wispa in Vegas last month, I mentioned we weren’t considering Cambium product partially because of the cost in Maestro. At that time someone mentioned that there is no longer a fee. I would have asked more questions but I had to go.

@Simon_King can you clarify for me? Is there still a cost for Maestro X? We’d be monitoring 450m/450i and 450b devices for now, but down the road in a future project, possibly the Cambium Fiber products.

Yes, cnMaestro X is still a paid product. You would need to purchase licenses for each PMP450 AP in your account. PMP450 subscriber modules and the current fiber products are part of the Free Tier, meaning that they don’t require licenses.

cnMaestro Essentials is still free.

(To upgrade an account that contains only free-tier devices, you would need to purchase a single license for a non-free-tier device)

Ah, that’s unfortunate. We’ll just stick to the old version then. It works for what we need since we’re only running 450m and 450i AP’s. Since we don’t utilize Wifi, cnMatrix or any of the ePMP line, it feels silly to pay for features we’ll never touch. The only real perk for our side would be more useful data retention, but we can cover that base with something like Observium or other multi benefit softwares.

Thanks for the info!

For what it’s worth, here are some features of cnMaestro X specifically for fixed wireless users:

  • 2-year data retention
  • “Auto Provisioning” for new devices
  • Assists and “Fix Now”
  • Scheduled Spectrum Scan
  • Export data as CSV (Data Report)
  • RESTful API for Monitoring and Provisioning
  • Webhooks for integration with Slack, PagerDuty, Twilio, DataDog, Zapier etc.
  • Installation Summary upload from Installer app (PMP, eMP)
  • 100 Management Users
  • High-Availability for On-Premises
  • Concurrent Device Jobs
  • Managed Service Provider Accounts
  • Cambium Care Pro

I appreciate the response. Some responses below

  • 2-year data retention - We take care if this with Solarwinds and Observium

  • “Auto Provisioning” for new devices - As a wholesale provider, this is of little use to us. Our providers install their own devices on their associated VLAN’s

  • Assists and “Fix Now” - Not sure what this feature is.

  • Scheduled Spectrum Scan - We scan occasionally. In our area, the spectrum is fairly clean. So we scan when there are issues or if we see a dip in normal traffic levels

  • Export data as CSV (Data Report) - Reports are available for free in the old version we use. Not perfect, but we use other software to make up for Maestros shortcomings in this regard

  • RESTful API for Monitoring and Provisioning - Similar answer to the Auto Provisioning, Not really a value add for us.

  • Webhooks for integration with Slack, PagerDuty, Twilio, DataDog, Zapier etc. - We use other software for alerting

  • Installation Summary upload from Installer app (PMP, eMP) - Same as the others, We’re wholesale to little to no value add for us

  • 100 Management Users - 5 person team here, 100 is overkill.

  • High-Availability for On-Premises - Achieved internally with a strong VM environment

  • Concurrent Device Jobs - I prefer to run 1 job at a time. Clients first then AP, 1 sector at a time. We maintain a high level of uptime and prefer to check after an update.

  • Managed Service Provider Accounts - Providers have IP access to their radios and through an API poll, they can pull statistics to our portal.

  • Cambium Care Pro - Our stuff is old 450m gear, most is out of warranty. At this rate if stuff starts to fail, we’d be looking for an alternative rather than putting up the same old stuff. We have spares and had to fight last time we RMA’d something.

A complaint I have always had about CN Maestro is the process when something is onboarded. Your competitors software (starts with a U) saves the device config when it is onboarded. So even if the device goes offline, I can simply download the config and upload to a new device. The config updates whenever there is a change. Their process is automatic without having to run config backups. It’s been on through the old version and the newest versions. 100% free

Thank you for explaining.

You can see a demo of this feature here:

This does indeed sound like a useful feature.

I posted it in “Your Ideas” some time ago on my other account. I have had my other account for a long time, but this one is for work and associated to our support.

I still think its a good idea. I came to expect it after using UBNT stuff for so long at my last job. I have a couple other good ideas in there too
