Upgraded 1 3000 AP, 1 1000 AP and 2 3000L APs with 4.4.2. One of the 3000L's will not GPS lock at all and needs to be run off internal sync. It is on a tower 2' away from three other APs that all have GPS sync. The 1000 AP will also not get a GPS lock and has to be run in flexible mode. Both devices had good GPS prior to the upgrade. However, downgrading the 3000L back to 4.4.1 does not fix GPS.

Following the 4.4.2 upgrade, the AP log is filled with:

Nov 1 02:12:38 Lookout South 3000 AP syslog: GPS module was reset

and

Nov 1 05:19:37 Lookout South 3000 AP syslog: nmea message has invalid checksum

No GPS functionality on this AP. Not using the puck.

On the 1000 and 2000 APs that recieved the 4.4.2 upgrade, they all show this message in the logs:

00:00:42 No GPS Information received from device. Power reset is required.

Does not matter how many times the device is power cycled. GPS does not seem to work on these devices and they need to be run in Internal timing mode.

Hmmm... I wonder what the differences are between yours and ours.  We have had no GPS problems since upgrading to 4.4.2 a couple days ago.

We have 6x 3000L on the tower, plus a 2000Lite in ePTP mode, plus a couple Force300 in ePTP mode, and a couple ePMP3000 4x4 - and 4 ePMP1000 @2.4Ghz - and no GPS problems on any of them.  I wonder what differences you are having?

any news with SM´s going back to default IP??

Hi!

It is not a known issue as far as I am aware. Can you please open up a support ticket with more details? You can tag me in it as well.

Dmitry

Hi Chad,

What GPS FW is currently installed at the radios?

We were looking into the issue, but were not able to replicate it in the lab.

Thnak you.

Hello.

I'm still having some issues with Force 300 devices dropping from our in-house cnMaestro.

Originally we were having this issue with NAT mode radios and they would try to gain access to maestro through their public IP, and not their Management.

I see that there is a fix for this in 4.4.2, but it appears to still be there.

When i run a traceroute to our cnmaestro's IP, the first hop is it's public Gateway, and not it's management.

What in Gods Name is   Smart Speed   and why is the thing enabled by default.

DO NOT ADD FEATURES TO THE ETHERNET DRIVER LEAVE IT STANDARD!!!!
We have a hard enough time trouble shooting standard issue with out cambium randomly adding things to an already standardized protocol.

If you must add new features PLEASE DO NOT  I REPEAT DO NOT ENABLE THEM BY DEFAULT!!

I for one do not want random CAMBIUM specific things messing with the ethernet port  PLEASE follow the published  IEEE 802.3 STANDARD and leave it at that. do not add anything and do not remove anything!

Thank you

but is it really so difficult to insert changelogs? Every time I lose hours looking for them! Absurd!

Hi. Are you talking about the Release Notes, which include a list of changes?

Updated 4 e3000 from 4.3.2.1.  We are using 40mhz channels with frequency reuse ABAB.  In the pics you can see a significat increase in session drops.  Is anyone else seeing something similar?

Yes, lots of session disconnects but mostly with 300-25 hardware.

We only have 300-25 hardware.

I'd love to tell you the GPS firmware number but as soon as we took the AP to 4.4.2 from 3.5.6, the GPS firmware box went away and there is no way I can see on how to either upgrade the GPS firmware now or tell you what version it is running.

Same here, session disconnects everywhere

If this feautre is enabled cable inhibits completion of the training phase, then after a few failed attempts, the device automatically adjusts the highest ability to the next lower speed: from 1000 to 100 to 10.

This feature was eneabled by default for ePMP on day one, but in 3.5.2 we made it possible to disable it because bad cabling and some faulty ethernet adapters/switches can lead ePMP to do only 100Mbps isntead of GigE.

With this feature disabled if you plug the device with specific Gigabit Ethernet PHY in 100Mbps it will negotiate at all.

It will be great if you can eleborate what issue you had with this option enabled/disabled.

Thanks,

Dmitry

PS This feature is enabled by default in the upstream Linux kernel ethernet driver

Can both of you be so kind open up a support ticket and mention Dmitry Moiseev in it if you see disconnects on 4.4.2?

well over the last few years we have had repeated issues with ethernet ports on subscriber radios ePMP radios just randomly twitching on and off, on and off it I had been assumming this was due to bad terminations or faulty poe injectors.since reterminating the cable ends or replacing the customer router and/or power injector usually fixed the problem.

however when i upgraded some sites to 4.4.2 I noticed a single radio had been as you said cycling thru disconnected/1000/100/10 over and over.

having never seen this  SmartSpeed Feature before and going through my normal troubleshooting of what appeared to be a cabling related issue I discovered this feature. and disabled it the ethernet port came up at 100mbps

as you said this was still not correct since it was a GigE radio and had  a Cambium provided Gigabit PoE injector.

of course i had my tech replace cable run after we found a spot where the cable had been penched by some contractors that replaced the customers rain gutters. and the issue was resolved. however the issue did not appear until the customer radio was upgraded to 4.4.2 when the sector they were connected to was upgraded.

I also checked the radios I still have running on 3.x and none of them have the option to disable this Smart Speed feature.  it wasnt till upgraded to 4.4.2 that this new option appeared. in the web interface.
