WIN 10. Just updated to version 5.6.4 and after it opens, I’ll try loading a file or a new project. The project loads, and the left-hand window show good information, but then, it crashes (probably loading the Google map). checked to see if their were any remnants of earlier versions, but no luck. It also complains occasionally about the LinkPlanner.exe.log file that it can’t modify.
Any clues as to a fix?

I use both Malwarebytes and Bit Defender. I incorporated both suggestions excluding the application as well as the LinkPlanner folder. Still crashing.

Run the console version of LINKPlanner and send the console output to linkplanner@cambiumnetworks.com.
That will display warning messages in the output, which you can ignore. The important information will be just as it crashes.

Good news in a surprising twist.
Strangely enough, it actually works via LinkPlannerConsole.exe. Load the file, and everything runs smoothly.
But as posted earlier, running LinkPlanner.exe followed by loading a file still results in a crash.
Any insight as to why that would be?
I’m not sure why it would work with the console version, but not the regular exe. Originally you mentioned that you saw the error with the “LinkPlanner.exe.log” file. When you run the console version it should display the error messages that cannot be saved to the exe.log file (Windows prevents applications from writing to the Program Files directory).
This error usually appears if there is an error before the normal LINKPlanner log files have been configured. Can you email your log files to linkplanner@cambiumnetworks.com? To locate your log files:
Many of the log files are numbered, but make sure to include the “.log” file with no number at the end since that is the most recent file.

So, I’ve successfully have been running the alternative suggestion LinkPlannerConsole.exe (v5.6.5) and today it started exhibiting the same symptoms (load the project file and then it crashes).
So, falling back on the old fashion method of removing and reinstalling v5.6.5, I tried running it again and now it works, like it should have originally.
I’m thinking now that this is something on my machine, since the symptoms occurred randomly on both types of programs; I suspect it’s my computer protection software. So, we’ll see what happens down the road.
I’ve had this issue off and on as well. Brand new W10 install and installed version 5.6.5. Set up user information and linked path profile. If I try to open an existing file, or even try to create a new project the program closes. This happened on one other machine when I tried going from version 4 to 5. I never got 5 to work on that machine so I went back to 4 which worked fine. That was under W8.1. Then I wiped the machine and installed W10 and version 5 worked fine. Now on a different machine I am having the crash issue again. So you aren’t alone. I tried running the console.exe but it displays no output, just the blank window and it still crashes when creating a new project.
So I just uninstalled 5.6.5 and installed 5.4.0 which is what I was running on the old PC and that one is working fine.
Since 5.4.0 works, but the later versions don’t then the issue seems to have started when we started building LINKPlanner on Windows 10 rather than Windows 7. Try removing these DLLs:
• Open Explorer and navigate to the LINKPlanner installation directory (the default is C:\Program Files\Cambium Networks\LINKPlanner)
• Delete MPR.dll and MSWSOCK.dll
Note that you will need administrator privileges on the computer to do this.

I just tested this and the program still exits silently when creating a new project. linkplnnerconsole.exe is at least now giving output however the console window exits when the program does and nothing new appears in the window before exiting. Below is the log file.

Those warnings are expected. Try synadom’s suggestions from Link Planner google maps crash, resolution?. Your antivirus software could be causing the problem.
This is a different issue not related to Google Earth. If I create a new project or open an existing project file the program immediately closes before I do anything. If I revert to the old version everything works 100%. If it was the AV it shouldn’t matter what version I was running.
You have to whitelist both the linkplanner install directory and the project files directory. You have to whitelist the executable files as well.
