What encryption options does Canopy offer?

Canopy radios support either AES or DES type of encryption.
Encryption type is not a configurable option. An operator purchases either the AES or DES product. The operator can only enable or disable encryption.

The difference between AES and DES encryptions is the encryption algorithm and the length of the session key (128 bits for AES and 56 bits for DES).

A DES radio cannot communicate with a AES radio, if the encryption is enabled. If encryption is disabled on both the modules, they can communicate with each other.
In most cases an operator will build a network of AES modules only or of DES modules only.

Current Canopy encryption is focused on protecting the air link and is therefore link encryption. The input/output at the module’s Ethernet port is unencrypted.

Is the contents of this post still valid today?
In particular that encryption type is not configurable but fixed with product purchase?
Appreciated…
