Xirrus XP1-MSI 75W PoE injector usable with XE5-8?

Hi Community, we received a XE5-8 Access Point for one of our customers. Unfortunately the 5Gbit 802.3bt injector is out of stock at the moment. We do have some Xirrus XP1-MSI 75W injectors available but not sure if it will work, as the old Xirrus/Phihong injectors are not official 802.3bt units.
As the XD4-240 units are usable with the XP1-MSI-75 in combination with the “dongle-resistor- cable”, I am wondering if the combination of XP1-MSI-57 and dongle will work with the XE5-8 as workaround, till we receive the 5Gbit 802.3bt injector?
Can anyone confirm?
Thx, Stefan

Hi Stefan, you can use XP1-MSI-75 with the XE5-8 and no need to use the purple dongle. The XP1 injector advertises itself as a 802.3at device with L1 two-event classification so you should run the “show power” command from the CLI and may need to use the “power force 802.3bt7” command (see below example".

(config)# show power
System Power State: Power State Limited. Some services disabled.
Power Supply Class: 802.3at.
Class Inferred Power Available: 25.6W inferred, 53.0W max draw, 12.9W min required.
Current LLDP Negotiation State: LLDP Not Reporting Allocation.
Undetermined Power State Policy: Assumed sufficient.

(config)# power force 802.3bt7

(config)# save
.
.
.
then wait a couple minutes
.
.
.

(config)# show power
System Power State: Power State Sufficient for all services.
Power Supply Class: 802.3at.
Class Inferred Power Available: 25.6W inferred, 53.0W max draw, 12.9W min required.
Power Supply Class Forced to: 802.3bt7.
Current LLDP Negotiation State: LLDP Not Reporting Allocation.
Undetermined Power State Policy: Assumed sufficient.
(config)#
