OutDoor Ethernet Switches

Hi checking if there is interest here for a product like this, as I deal with a bunch of customers in the industrial market segment.Popular type switches in this segment are Hirschmann RS20 and on the lower end we see here and there Mikrotik Netpower 16P. Increasingly we are seeing the Chinese heavily enter this segment and there is quite a bit of pushback in this vertical against their equipment.

Most are L2 only and usually feature a some form of console power in the enclosure for troubleshooting.

Switches can usually take multiple dc blocks and have poe power out on most of the ports to power up wifi/iot/surveillance. Units usually sit in no enclosure and have some form of rating against dust/water.Connectivity back to the IDF/MDF usually via sfp+ ports.

Yea, I’ve posted about this before.

cnMatrix DIN Rail Industrial Switch

I work in the event industry and try to fit the cnMatrix switches into outdoor cases. Of course I’m waiting for an outdoor-capable switch, but until then it’s all about DIY.

I have started a dedicated topic: cnMatrix Outdoor Cases

I think the lower end stuff is covered.
L2 only you’ve got the Ubiquiti Nanoswitch
L3 we use a lot of Mikrotik Powerbox Pro, Netpower 16P and Grandstream GWN7710R (the latter handles a wide range of input voltages similar to Netonix DC switches)

There’s possibly a space in the market for an outdoor rated L3 switch similar to TX1012-P-DC, possibly with just 2 SFP+ ports and more POE ports. One switchable higher powered 57V “DC ONLY” output for when you need > 90W would be ideal.

For larger sites most operators are going to be utilising a building or waterpoofed enclosure with rackmounts anyway.

Hi bro, look this new outdoor heavy-duty switch from Mikrotik… we use Powerbox PRO and Netpower 16P in all our towers, but now we are waiting this new power switch for critical towers!

Anyone was testing this?
